Caravan Park Attendant

No Formal Qualifications On The Job Training VOC Course Subject Prerequisites Traineeship Year 10 Preferred

Caravan park attendants work in caravan parks, where they carry out day-to-day housekeeping, maintenance and office/reception duties.

Caravan park attendants usually work shifts and may be required to work weekends, public holidays and long hours during busy periods.

Some of the work is outdoors and must be done in all kinds of weather.

TASKS

    Caravan park attendants may perform the following tasks:

  • undertake housekeeping and cleaning of caravans, cabins, on-site accommodation, amenity blocks and other facilities
  • take guest bookings, reservations and payments
  • calculate guests' bills and issue receipts upon payment
  • meet, greet and farewell guests
  • maintain grounds, pools, gardens and sites of the park
  • conduct maintenance tasks such as painting and minor repairs
  • help in park shops, cafes and other facilities
  • provide guests with information on local tourist attractions and facilities
  • run leisure and tourism activities

  • able to work as part of a team
  • enjoy practical and manual activities
  • willing to undertake a variety of tasks
  • able to work outdoors in varied weather conditions

No Formal Qualifications On The Job Training VOC Course Subject Prerequisites Traineeship Year 10 Preferred

You can work as a caravan park attendant without formal qualifications. You will probably get some informal training on the job.

Entry to this occupation may be improved if you have qualifications.

You may like to consider a VOC qualification in holiday parks and resorts. As subjects and prerequisites can vary between institutions, you should contact your chosen institution for further information.

You can also become a caravan park attendant through a traineeship in Holiday Parks and Resorts.

Entry requirements may vary, but employers generally require Year 10.


Additional Information

    Once you are employed, you may be able to develop, and have recognised, additional skills under the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package that will expand your career opportunities within this industry.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Caravan park attendants are employed at caravan parks and camping grounds throughout NSW and the ACT.

Caravan parks and camping grounds are often privately owned, although some are owned by local councils or are part of larger businesses. employment opportunities are influenced by the level of tourism activity in the local area and can be seasonal.

With experience, and sometimes further training, caravan park attendants may progress to managerial positions or find work at tourist attractions, resorts or in other accommodation industries.
